Coverage: Global (amateur radio network) · Update frequency: Real-time · Format: APRS Protocol

Overview

APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) is an amateur radio-based system for real-time digital communications. It's used by ham radio operators to share position, weather data, messages, and telemetry.

How Sentinela Uses This Data

APRS stations are displayed as markers on the map. Different symbols indicate station types (home station, mobile, weather station, digipeater). Clicking shows station details and recent activity.

Data Processing

Data is fetched from APRS-IS servers based on the visible map area. We filter and display stations with recent activity.

Limitations & Considerations

APRS requires amateur radio license to transmit. Coverage depends on digipeater infrastructure. Position accuracy varies from GPS-precise to approximate.
