Overview
OpenWeatherMap provides weather map tiles showing precipitation radar, cloud cover, temperature, wind speed, and atmospheric pressure. These tiles are updated every 10 minutes and provide a visual overview of current weather conditions.
How Sentinela Uses This Data
Users can toggle different weather layers in the Layers panel. Tiles overlay the base map with semi-transparency, allowing you to see weather patterns while maintaining geographic context.
Data Processing
Map tiles are fetched directly from OpenWeatherMap's tile servers through our API proxy. We cache tiles briefly to reduce API calls and improve performance.
Limitations & Considerations
Precipitation radar coverage varies by region - some areas have denser radar networks than others. Satellite-based layers have inherent delays. Color scales are optimized for global coverage and may not show subtle variations.
